SEMINAR SERIES ON THE BOOK OF ACTS
The Book of Acts is terrifically interesting and readable. It’s all plot: the very peculiar story of how a small Jewish sect became a mostly-Gentile Christian church. The characters are unforgettable: Peter, James, and most of all Paul. To follow Paul’s physical and spiritual journeys is to reflect upon the original appeal of the Jesus story in the very different societies of Palestine, Syria, Asia Minor, Greece, and Italy.
This will be a 10-week series. On each of most of those Sundays, two of your fellow parishioners will present a section of Acts. Part of their job will be to get discussion going, among the seminar participants. This is a great way to get to know other members of St. Christopher’s Church, in a context somewhat different from the usual.
For our text we’re using Acts for Everyone, with translation and commentary by N.T. Wright, a scholar of early Christianity and a wonderful writer. We’ll be happy to provide you with a copy.
We anticipate that most participants will be physically in the parish hall, every Sunday at 9:10. But if you would like to join virtually, contact the church office for the zoom link.
One way or another, we hope you will consider lending your presence and your voice to this work.
