Discipleship Education

This fall, in the Discipleship hour (9:10 to 9:50 a.m. on Sundays), we are tackling Genesis. This is the eighth annual fall seminar series moderated by Hillary Raining and Tom Allen. By “seminar” we mean that most Sundays, two parishioners will be presenting a section of Genesis….running group discussion around questions they have identified and presented.

Genesis is full of some of the best narratives ever, and is full of mystery. What did it mean that humans were made in God’s image? What do we learn about God, as He struggles to figure out these humans, with false starts, mistakes, and re-considerations along the way? Why would Jacob, with all his personality defects, be a Patriarch who personifies Israel? What do we learn about the values of ancient Hebrew society, from the very different prototypes of Joseph and Judah? Etc. etc.

This seminar series is always fun, and a really good way to get to know each other. Join us!
