Annual Turkey Carving Celebration
November 25, 2020 @ 8:30 am - 10:30 am
Dear Fellow Parishioners at St. Christopher’s Church,
I am writing to provide you all with an update on our plans to conduct this year’s Jack Arndt Annual Turkey Carving celebration for the benefit of the Community Kitchen at the Church of the Advocate (COA) and the people they serve.
As you undoubtably can appreciate, the ongoing pandemic has called for us to alter our plans somewhat and what has become clear is that we will be relying on your charity and cooking talents even more this year for the Church of the Advocate especially on Wednesday, November 25, 2020. So here are the details to our new approach for this year.
CARVERS: This year we are asking our carvers to coordinate two shifts for carving so we can keep the headcount down and maintain social distancing. As I see it we are planning 4 carvers for the 8:30 to 9:30 time block followed by 4 new carvers from 9:30-10:30.
PACKERS: We will still be packing the turkey for shipment to COA in the parish hall. We are looking for two to three packers to help us with this task.
KITCHEN CREW: The kitchen crew this year is excused. We will be shipping the string beans, yams and cranberry sauce to the COA ahead of time. This should reduce the number of vehicles we will need for turkey shipment on November 25. COA will make the decision on the yams’ recipe.
Year in and year out, thanks to your generosity our parish and people outside of it has shined forth in this marking of the Thanksgiving holiday. This year is the 30th year of our Turkey Carving Celebration. We had planned a celebration of this milestone but those plans have been put on hold until, hopefully, next year. However, our efforts and our turkeys are needed even more this year by the good people at the COA and those they serve. So, let’s answer the call! But let’s try to make it fun! Get others involved (neighbors, friends, relatives). Use Zoom! Remember who we are serving and what it means.
Please add your name to our on line sign up sheet here. Thanks!

When I was child I was a big fan of a sketch comedian by the name of Rex Skelton. I will close this note with what he used to say when he would wrap up an episode of his weekly variety show…
“And may God bless.”
