Joy in Confession

Wednesday evenings from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. via zoom
February 22nd – March 29th
Our Lenten program this year is on forgiveness, reconciliation, and spiritual healing. It’s called “Joy in Confession,” and it has its roots in Hillary’s book of the same title.
One of the biggest blocks to spiritual growth and wholeness is when we can’t forgive something, or when we feel like we can’t be forgiven. Part of the problem lies in the way that we’ve often been taught that we need to “forgive and forget.” But that sentiment doesn’t really fit with the biblical understanding of forgiveness. So many of us are personally stuck, feeling the need for forgiveness, and that also extends to our systems that tend to fall prey to our false notions of separation. If we don’t transform our pain, we will transmit it.
In order to really feel freedom, we need to understand reconciliation— for ourselves, for others, and for the world we live in. This class will help us understand it through the lens of scripture, tradition, and spiritual practices. We will look at really complex issues, such as sin and confession, in a space of openness and joy.
This workshop experience is for anybody who wants to feel freedom from holding onto past wounds, feeling stuck in shame, and who wants to help heal the divisions in our world. You are welcome even if you’re not sure you’re ready to forgive yourself or someone else.
This class will meet every Wednesday in Lent except during Holy Week. Free for all St. Christopher’s members! Click here to register.
