Stewardship

“In all this I have given you an example that by such work we must support the weak, remembering the words of the Lord Jesus, for he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

– Acts 20:35b

Stewardship at St. Christopher’s Church is the act of parishioners giving of their time, talent and treasure to the church to further its mission of To Lift People Up As Christ Calls in response to God’s abundant generosity. It could be as simple as acting as an Usher on a Sunday service to as complicated as being a Warden for the Church. These acts should all be done with one purpose in mind – to the glory of God and to further our mission as a Church.

Annually, the Church has a Stewardship Campaign to raise money to offer wonderful worship and programs to foster a Christian faith, operate the Church and maintain the beautiful properties the Church owns, both the Rectory and Church buildings and help other funds to be used toward outreach efforts. It is up to the current membership to support the Church’s Mission and it’s properties for future generations. A financial pledge is requested of each member that they then pay in the following year.

Parishioners can get involved with the Stewardship Committee which is chaired annually by a Vestry person. They can also offer personal testimonials, either written or verbal at Church services, in support of the Stewardship Campaign and why they give to the Church.

Paul said it best to the Corinthians almost 2,000 years ago –
“Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
– (2 Corinthians 9: 6-7)

Endowment Oversight

St. Christopher’s Endowment Oversight Committee seeks to be good stewards of the blessings and resources given to this community. We do so by overseeing the custody and investment of the church’s Endowment Funds to ensure their safekeeping and sound investment. Also to periodically review our investment policies to ensure they remain up to date and responsible as to continue to be responsible and transparent in all times.

Committee members are expected to have a heart for gratitude, some background in finance and/or investment management. The committee reviews quarterly reports from our investment managers, and has authority to reallocate our funds to new managers at any time.

For further information on how to give, please contact Ken Jones, Endowment Committee Chair, or Katie Gibbs, Office Manager, at KatieGibbs@SaintChristophers.org.
